Individual Development Program
Program Objective
The Genesis Individual Development Program aims to support people with an intellectual disability to develop independent living skills while living in a shared house arrangement for 20 weeks.
Staff support is available to participants seven days per week, including a live-in Lead Tenant who is there to be a positive role model and to offer assistance in an emergency. As part of our person-centred approach, UnitingCare Harrison staff help each client develop a support plan with goals that detail what they want to learn from the program and why.
The staff member's role is to help the client achieve their goals by working with, not working for the client and to facilitate reviews throughout the 20 week program.
Program Philosophy
Clients will have the opportunity to develop program goals within a person centered approach where support focuses on the aspirations and wishes of the individual.
