Multicultural Support
Program Objective
The aim of the Multicultural Support service is to promote self-reliance and independence while supporting families, single adults and adolescents over the age of 16 to obtain accommodation. Our staff respect your individuality and assist you in a way that allows you to make your own decisions and maintain your dignity within your own community. Access is available to interpreter services and bilingual workers to assist with language barriers. Outreach is provided to you if you are experiencing significant accommodation issues, whether living in the family home, a rooming house, private rental or crisis accommodation.
Family support can be provided to help solve problems that are causing concern or threatening to break up the family unit. Barriers are also addressed that prevent you from accessing or keeping your accommodation.
Information, support and referrals can be provided for accommodation, employment, education, finance, transport, health, childcare, counselling, legal and immigration services.
We can help if you would like support with:
- Negotiating together as a family;
- Finding and maintaining accommodation;
- Developing a realistic budget to enable independent living;
- Addressing barriers that prevent you from keeping or obtaining housing;
- Finding other services and supports in relation to drug, alcohol and mental health issues.
