Retirement Living
UnitingCare Harrison's Retirement Living Program operates a range of Independent Living Units (ILU's) for retired people in locations across metropolitan Melbourne. Our retirement villages are managed in accordance with the Retirement Villages Act 1986. An in-going occupancy loan amount, which varies from location and size of property, and fortnightly / monthly service charge applies. UnitingCare Harrison provides long-term accommodation for people able to live independently or for people who are receiving support from other services to maintain their independence.
Our villages are small, local and community focused. While lifestyle services or social amenities (such as a pool or gymnasium) are not provided, most UnitingCare Harrison retirement villages have a shared common room and ample opportunity for social interaction.
When you move to a UnitingCare Harrison village you will be welcomed by your local community. Our retirement villages are part of a neighbourhood, close to doctors, shops, social activities and networks.
Am I eligible?
If you or your spouse are 55 years of age or over and have retired from full time work you are eligible to apply for an Independent Living Unit.
Maintenance
UnitingCare Harrison employs a team of Buildings and Maintenance staff allocated to each village. Residents can telephone the maintenance call line on 9871 8700 to report any issues. The lawns and gardens are also maintained by Harrison although many residents enjoy looking after the small gardens surrounding their units.
Outreach Support
The Outreach Worker can provide information about community services and resources within the local area. This will help you in maintaining independent living through other services or agencies. Outreach worker help is as individual as you are.

How to Register Your Interest
As you can appreciate, accommodation at UnitingCare Harrison's Independent Living Units is keenly sought after. To ensure equitable access for prospective residents, UnitingCare Harrison operates a waiting list. By placing your name on the waiting list for a particular village you are given the option of making an application to move into the village when a unit becomes available. You may choose not to accept at that time but defer and maintain your place on the waiting list. You may defer as often as you wish.
To register for the UnitingCare Harrison retirement villages waiting list download this Registration of Interest form, complete the relevant sections and send it to us with your $50 refundable fee. If you would like further information please do not hesitate to contact the Tenancy Worker on 9871 8700.
