Stronger Families
Program Objective
Stronger Families is a short-term early intervention program encouraging families to work together to identify areas of conflict and implement goals to achieve change. The Stronger Families program supports families who are beginning to identify risk factors that may result in adverse outcomes, such as communication issues in the home, homelessness, and school disengagement.
Program Philosophy
To empower young people and their families to make positive life choices.
Criteria
- Young people 12 - 17 years of age;
- The young person and family do not have significant drug, alcohol or mental health issues;
- Participation is voluntary;
- The young person and family are willing to discuss and put into place strategies for change.

Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm

Cost
No cost.
Referrals to the Program
Referrals come from schools or self referral from families.
Activities / Services of the Program
Within a case management framework:
- Empower young people and their families to make informed choices and decisions regarding their future;
- Link young people back into their community;
- Provide referral to specialist support services, e.g. Counselling Services, Family Therapy, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services;
- Link young people into education / employment or specialist training programs.
- Equip families with the skills to develop their own strategies for use in times of conflict.
